There’s something about a wedding at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens that feels entirely its own. It’s not just the gardens or the oaks—it’s the way the entire place moves slowly. The way light filters through the trees. The way a wedding day can feel both elevated and completely relaxed at the same time. Sommer and Brandon traveled from Dallas to Charleston for exactly that. They wanted a setting that felt rooted, meaningful, and quietly beautiful—and Magnolia Gardens gave them that in every moment.

The day began near the Carriage House, where Sommer and her bridesmaids gathered to get ready. It felt like a true wedding morning—full of movement, laughter, and those small in-between moments that matter just as much as the big ones. Dresses being zipped, final touches in the mirror, tears shared between friends and family. There was an ease to the entire start of the day. Nothing rushed. Nothing forced. Before the ceremony, Sommer and Brandon chose to share private vows beneath one of Magnolia’s sprawling oak trees. This is one of those decisions that changes the entire feeling of a wedding day. Their ceremony took place with the marsh stretching out behind them—one of Magnolia’s most iconic and peaceful backdrops. After the ceremony, while guests made their way toward the porch of the Magnolia House, Sommer and Brandon stepped away for portraits. This is always one of my favorite parts of a Magnolia Plantation wedding. We wandered through the garden paths, stopping along the long white bridge, under the oak-lined avenues, and through the quiet corners of the property—including the garden maze. There’s so much variety here, but more importantly—there’s space. Space to slow down. Space to breathe. Space for couples to actually enjoy being together on their wedding day. Their portraits felt exactly like them—natural, relaxed, and completely unforced.
A Carriage House Reception Under the String Lights
The reception was held at the Carriage House, one of the most charming and inviting spaces on the property. Guests moved easily between the indoor space and the patio outside, where string lights, fire pits, and the fading light over the marsh set the tone for the evening. It was the kind of celebration that feels less like a production and more like a gathering.
Good food from Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint, a packed dance floor, a cigar bar on the patio, and plenty of time to actually enjoy it all.
A Charleston Wedding Exit to Remember
At the end of the night, Sommer and Brandon were whisked away through the Lowcountry streets—closing out a day that felt intentional from beginning to end.
